About The Obstacle is the Path

On view May 2 through June 1, 2024

The Obstacle is the Path seeks to highlight some of the talent and innovation of the artists and curators who have been essential to our journey over the past five years. Inspired by the philosophy of Marcus Aurelius, who famously said, "What stands in the way becomes the way," this exhibition commemorates Union Hall's 5th Anniversary by delving into this timeless concept. The collection of artwork seeks to explore how obstacles, challenges, and constraints serve not as barriers but as catalysts for transformation along the creative path, shedding light on the artist's journey of creation.

Curated by Esther Hernandez, exhibiting artists include Chrissy Espinoza, Cory Feder, Eseosa Edebiri, Fernando Orellana, Jenna Annunziato, MaryV, Masha Sha, Nadiya Jackson, Natalie Thedford, and Sarah McCormick.

5 Year Anniversary Party

May 31 from 7-10 PM

During the 5 Year Anniversary Party you will get exclusive access to “The Obstacle is the Path” — an exhibition featuring some of the extraordinary artists we have worked with over the past 5 years — in addition to food, a variety of beverages, live music, an art raffle and more.

This celebration is a fundraiser, with all of the proceeds made from ticket sales and the art raffle benefitting artists in future Union Hall events and programming. Early bird tickets are available, and discounted tickets will be provided to current residents of The Coloradan. Email us at info@unionhalldenver.org to get access to your discounted tickets!
