Meet the team

  • Sigri Strand

    Executive Director

    Sigri (she/her) has built her career at the intersection of arts, nonprofits, and community building. She joined Union Hall as Executive Director in 2026, leading the organization’s strategic vision, operations, fundraising, partnerships, and community engagement. Working closely with the Board of Directors, she oversees exhibitions, public programs while guiding Union Hall’s long-term growth and impact.

    Strand’s background includes roles with the Denver Film Society, Denver Art Museum, and Historic Denver, where she focused on donor engagement and measurable impact. She later co-founded ArtHyve, developing expertise in marketing, strategic planning, and program development. As Curator and Engagement Director at PlatteForum, she helped secure a dedicated gallery and studio space, elevating the residency program.

    Most recently, Strand served as Director of Marketing for Denver Union Station, expanding cultural programming and storytelling citywide. She brings a deep reverence for the arts, particularly photography, video, and film.

    Esther Hernandez

    Chief Curator

    Esther (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and arts professional. She joined Union Hall as Chief Curator in 2022, and previously managed an international artist residency, youth program, podcast, and exhibition space as Associate Director at PlatteForum. Her passion for supporting emerging artists and composing out-of-the-box opportunities and events shines through in her work. She has mentored young artists at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver through the Creator's Studio and Failure Lab programs and girls at Resilience Rising. Currently, she also works as an Executive Assistant at Black Ball Projects, a small arts nonprofit based in New York City, and maintains her studio practice at XDenver. A past resident artist at Redline Contemporary Art Center, she curated several experimental art events and has become well-known for installation and performance, setting up interactive creative experiences for the viewer. You can find her playing in her studio, hiking, and checking out art and music in her free time.

    Jess Díaz

    Gallery & Marketing Manager

    Jess (she/her) is a human-centered graphic designer focused on user behavior and interaction, and how these can be driving forces in creating meaningful brand experiences at Union Hall. She joined the organization in 2021 as the Gallery & Marketing Manager, and previously worked with the Marketing & Communications team for the College of Arts & Media at CU Denver where she holds a BFA in Digital Design. In addition to her position at Union Hall, Jess is a freelance graphic designer as well as an artist experimenting with concept and material to produce mixed media work that brings people closer to themselves, and links them to each other. She has curated a group exhibition at the Emmanuel Art Gallery and has had artwork exhibited there on two separate occasions. When Jess is not designing as a passion or profession, she can be found on outdoor adventures with her Beagle, learning about holistic sustainable development, or reading at a local coffee shop.
