Dirty Abstraction Book Club

Join us at the gallery for an evening of literature inspired by the exhibition Dirty Abstraction! Participants are invited to read three short pieces 38 by Layli Long Soldier, Reading Things by Gordon Hall, and an excerpt from In the Break by Fred Moten. Each poem or essay is a textual example that performs or relates to abstraction with content. Read one or all of them, and come ready for a nuanced and lively discussion with light snacks and wine.

NOTE: Links for each piece of literature are available for download below. Please come prepared having read the pieces you would like to discuss / share thoughts on, and bring your own copy of the essay(s).

Location, Parking and Accessibility

Union Hall is located inside the first floor of The Coloradan in downtown Denver at 1750 Wewatta Street, Suite 144. There are two entrances to the building equipped with power assist doors and all public areas are wheelchair accessible. Street parking is available along Wewatta Street. Paid public parking is located in the building garage on the corner of Wewatta & 18th Street with wheelchair accessible spaces. Union Hall is located directly next to the Union Station train tracks, providing access to a variety of public transportation options including the bus, light rail, train, and ride shares. If you have trouble locating us on the day of the event call us at (720) 927-4033.

Union Hall's gallery space will be lit by spotlights, dim overhead lights, and natural lighting. Light music will be playing at the beginning and end of the event on overhead speakers at a low volume. Artwork on display should not inhibit your ability for movement around the space. All areas of the gallery will be remain ADA accessible for the duration of the event. Artwork will remain accessible for viewing after the event.
