El Pueblo Cuida al Pueblo
(The People Take Care of the People) is a celebration of resilience, collective care, and shared stories. Through this combined resource fair and live monologue performance from Motus Theater's Cristian Solano-Córdova, audiences of all backgrounds can learn about local nonprofits, build connections, and experience stories that reflect the immigrant community. The event welcomes neighbors, families, advocates, and allies to build community through both practical support and shared stories, creating space for reflection, conversation, and access to resources that strengthen collective well-being.
El Pueblo Cuida al Pueblo coincides with the Rough Gems exhibition In the Shadows, curated by Itau Ramos Hernandez, on view at Union Hall from August 20 - October 3.

About the Monologue Performance
ImmigrantAmerica: The Meaning of Courage - Cristian reflects on the fear of family separation experienced by his mixed-status family after the 2016 election. Recalling his mother carrying him and his sister to safety during their childhood journey across the border, Cristian defines courage not as the absence of fear, but as the choice to move forward with purpose despite it. The story honors the strength and love of immigrant families while inviting audiences to help build a country that truly offers liberty and justice for all.
Cristian Solano-Córdova
Cristian Solano-Córdova (he/they) has been the Director of Communications, Outreach, and Development for Motus Theater since 2023 and has been a Motus Monologist since 2018. In his current role at Motus Theater, Cristian leverages his extensive experience in immigrants rights advocacy and activism to foster dialogue and understanding among diverse communities. He is particularly focused on issues that intersect immigrant rights, criminal legal reform, and LGBTQIA+ rights. His work aims to build bridges through storytelling, advocacy, and community engagement, all of which serve as powerful tools for social change. A Denver-based DACA recipient from Chihuahua, Mexico, Cristian began his advocacy journey in 2015 as the first DACAmented Student Body President at Metropolitan State University of Denver. He united student governments across Colorado to prevent higher education budget cuts. From 2017 to 2020, he was the Communications Director at the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC). There, he led communication efforts for legal services, voter registration, and legislative campaigns to protect the undocumented community in Colorado. Prior to joining Motus as staff, Cristian worked with the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), coordinating advocacy and policy initiatives with 61 member organizations across 40 states.
Accessibility
The space will be moderately lit with natural light, overhead lights, and gallery spotlights on artwork. Multiple organizations will be tabling this event with representatives available for conversation. A portion of this event includes a sound-based monologue performance. All areas of the gallery will remain ADA accessible. This event is hybrid, half standing, and half seated. Permanent bench seating will be available at all times. Additional seating is available upon request.

Union Hall is located inside the first floor of The Coloradan in downtown Denver at 1750 Wewatta Street, Suite 144. There are two ground floor entrances to the building equipped with power assist doors and all public areas are wheelchair accessible. Street parking is available along Wewatta Street. Paid public parking is located in the building garage with an entrance on the corner of Wewatta Street and 18th Street, with wheelchair accessible spaces. Union Hall is located directly next to the Union Station train tracks, providing access to a variety of public transportation options including the bus, light rail, train, and ride shares.
